Leadership Missouri donates to restorative justice program

The 2015 Leadership Missouri class has made a donation to the Jefferson City Correctional Center.

During a visit to the facility in April, Leadership Missouri participants learned of a restorative justice class that makes weighted blankets and vests for children with special needs. They rely on donations of fabric and other material to make those blankets, which they give away for free.

The restorative justice program aims to give offenders a purpose while in custody and teach them about giving back. The Leadership Missouri class was inspired during their tour in April and gathered donations to present to the group in August.

Two large carts of material and fabric were donated to the restorative justice group where they will be turned into therapy blankets, vest, Alzheimer’s busy blankets, pillows and more.
