UNDERGROUND DATA CENTER EXPANDING IN SPRINGFIELD
Telecommunications and data center company, Bluebird Network, is embarking on a three- phase, 16,000-square-foot expansion in the Springfield Underground.
When completed in mid-2017, the project will more than double the size of Bluebird’s existing facility. The growth at Bluebird in Springfield follows a new state law offering incentives to new and expanding data centers.
“This expansion will allow us to accommodate the growing demand for existing and new data center customers,” says Michael Morey, president and CEO of Bluebird.
Schneider Electric is the contractor for the project’s first phase, which started in August.
“It’s great to work with a forward-thinking company investing in its infrastructure to support customer requirements,” says Mike Hagan, vice president of Schneider Electric’s Data Center Service Providers Segment.
