Do Outdoors – Lew’s Fishing reels in success

andrea morrowWhen your company is based on a love of the outdoors and a passion for fishing, you create an environment where people love to come to work and the business thrives. Lynn Reeves founded Do Outdoors – Lew’s Fishing in 2009 as a company dedicated to delivering innovative and durable products at a fair price. The company’s past six years have been a great success, making Do Outdoors – Lew’s Fishing one of fastest growing companies in Missouri.

Lynn Reeves was a family friend of Lew Childre who created the bamboo fishing rods and tear drop shaped reels the company is famous for. After Childre’s passing, Reeves opened the business with him in mind.

Lew’s was founded in Lynn’s home state of Missouri, but makes rods, reels, and other fishing equipment for distribution through the country. The state’s rich fishing and outdoor resources and central location helps in providing customers nationwide with quality, time-tested products at reasonable prices.

“Missouri provides a ‘pro-business’ environment for small business startups,” says Gary Remensnyder, president of Lew’s. “Our associates all share a passion for fishing and the great outdoors and we have become a family that is dedicated to driving innovation to deliver exceptional products and services.”

Headquartered in Springfield, the company employs 33 associates, with 29 of them working in Missouri.

“Our team brings passion to work every day,” Remensnyder says. “It is a great honor to be recognized as one of the fastest growing and most successful young companies in the state. It motivates us to revisit our values, stay focused on our goals, and remain dedicated to what has helped us be successful so far.”
