Phoenix Home Care is committed to personal health service

andrea morrowThe legend of the phoenix is a story of ever-changing growth and rebirth. Like its namesake, Phoenix Home Care has risen from humble beginnings to become one of the fastest growing Missouri companies in the last five years.

Phoenix Home Care, a full-service home health care provider based in Springfield, provides services to seniors, disabled children, and adults that includes simple housekeeping and daily errands, to fully advanced nursing and therapy services, hospice, and private duty nurses.

The company was started by Phil and Kimberly Melugin in May, 2011with 20 members on staff. Over a four year period, Phoenix Home Care expanded to roughly 2,000 employees and more than 3,000 clients and currently provides more than 40,000 hours of care and visits every week.  Phoenix is also licensed to do business in three other states: Illinois, Kansas, and Colorado.

“Missouri has been a friendly place,” says Phil, a native of Wichita. “We receive a lot of public funding and there have been some challenges with the governor’s interpretation of what the budget is versus the legislature’s interpretation of what the budget is. Working with the state budget has been a challenge but we have risen to it.”

Phil attributes the success of Phoenix Home Care to the attitude of his employees.

“We believe our culture produces the most motivated caregivers and licensed clinicians in the industry,” he says.  ”We are head and shoulders above the rest.”

“It’s very humbling to be named a Fast Track winner,” Phil says. “We spend a lot of time in the details of day to day operations and it’s nice to see that a big picture has taken shape. We offer new beginnings to all those we serve. We believe that homecare has a mission and is an opportunity to be a new beginning in an individual s health care.”
